Concerning Photography

“To take a photograph is to hold one’s breath when all faculties converge in a face of fleeing reality. It is at that moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy.”

This quotation from the late Henri Cartier-Bresson is the starting point for my own work in STREET PHOTOGRAPHY. I am fascinated by urban landscapes and the city. The aim is to go beyond the clichés of tourism, and to catch people and life unawares.

I was born in London and live and work here.

My influences are: Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Frank, Lee Friedlander, Garry Winogrand and many more.
I have learnt photography from looking at photo-books from Fox Talbot “The Pencil of Nature” to those of Martin Parr and Joel Meyerowitz.

I use Leica film and Canon digital SLR cameras.
